On a daily basis, there is no special or complicated maintenance required for plated accessories.
However, we recommend rinsing them with fresh water from time to time. You can also clean them in a little warm water with a drop of dish soap. You can also use an ultra-soft toothbrush to give your CP chains a more thorough cleaning.
While they are highly resistant to fresh water, plated jewelry is particularly sensitive to abrasion. It's best to remove them when taking your dog to the beach, the pool, or in the mud. Salt or chlorinated water can damage the plating layer. Little by little, the brass or steel may then appear transparent. If you still want to leave them on to look your best when you swim, it's possible. You'll just have to remember to rinse your accessories in fresh water very quickly after swimming.
The best natural products for maintaining your plate are in your kitchen!
Soapy water: Soak a soft sponge in a mixture of water and dish soap. Then, clean your plated necklace, rinse it, and place it on a clean cloth. Finally, dry it with a soft cloth.
If you wish to further polish the item after cleaning it thoroughly, there are several options available to you:
- Apply toothpaste to a damp cloth, then lightly rub the jewelry.
- Sprinkle the jewelry with flour and wipe it.
- Rub it with an onion and repeat the operation as soon as it turns black.
- If your jewelry is stained, use vinegar or diluted lemon juice.
